I visited this place over the weekend. It is a truly majestic sight. Hagia Sophia with its exceptional history constitutes a synthesis between east and west. This monument is one of the wonders of the world that has remained intact until the present day. One can find many attractions in Hagia Sophia – interesting forms of Byzantine architecture, mosaics of the Christian period as well as structures added during the Ottoman era.  Hagia Sophia has been a Christian place of worship for 916 years, then converted into a mosque and served Muslims for 481 years. Hagia Sophia Museum was opened in 1935 and ever since it has been attracting thousands of visitors every year. if you can go, don't think twice, just do it.

Gorgeous well-known museum/church/mosque. Definitely worth standing in line to go in! The entrance is only 10e and once you're in, you know you paid for something breathtaking. It's worth going everywhere in and around because every square centimetre fills you with awe of the amazing artwork the people from the past took time and effort to create. The blend of ancient Byzantine art and Turkish islamic additions is something truly unique that everyone going to Istanbul needs to experience.

Hagia Sophia is one of the greatest surviving examples of Byzantine architecture. Its interior is decorated with mosaics and marble pillars and coverings of great artistic value. The temple itself was so richly and artistically decorated that Justinian proclaimed, "Solomon, I have outdone thee!" (Νενίκηκά σε Σολομών). Justinian himself had overseen the completion of the greatest cathedral ever built up to that time, and it was to remain the largest cathedral for 1,000 years up until the completion of the cathedral in Seville in Spain. Justinian's basilica was at once the culminating architectural achievement of late antiquity and the first masterpiece of Byzantine architecture. Its influence, both architecturally and liturgically, was widespread and enduring in the Eastern Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Muslim worlds alike.

An impressive structure, towering over you like the weight of the centuries. I couldn't go inside the museum, as it was the weekend there were long queues of tourists both days. However, there was a side entrance to a few sultan tombs, which was free for the public and didn't seem to attract too many visitors. Photos are from the exterior of the tomb and Hagia Sophia. Definitely recommend to visit, even for a walk around!

Church come Mosque come Museum. It really testifies the technological advancement and the wealth of the kingdom who built it. Built in sixth century, the mosaics and wall paintings are still beautiful. It’s located very close to Topkapi Palace and Blue Mosque, so you can just walk between the three places. It is amazing than the museum was built more than 1400 years ago.
